The Hindu Shahi (kings) who reigned between around 615 and 950 CE are credited with building the Lord Shiva-dedicated Katas Raj Temples in the Punjab state of Pakistan, which are located close to Chakwal. They are one of the most significant Hindu pilgrimage destinations in Pakistan as a result, and both local Pakistani Hindus and those who travel there annually from overseas continue to use them today.
This collection of temples was built to honour the Pandawa brothers of “Mahabharta,” who are thought to have visited the location. According to legend, this is the area that the epic refers to as Dvaitavana. The Pandavas dwelt here during their exile, and this is also where the Yakshahs and Pandawas exchanged a string of interrogative statements.
The Khewra Salt Mines are situated in Khewra, a subdivision of the Jhelum District in Punjab, Pakistan, to the north of Pind Dadan Khan. It is the second-biggest salt mine in the world and the largest in Pakistan. It is a popular tourist destination. Its discovery by Alexander’s army in 320 BC is where its history begins, but it didn’t begin trade until the Mughal era. However, the horses of Alexander’s army, who were observed licking the stones, were the ones who actually found the mine, not he or his companions.
